Sorry if it's been asked before, yet I couldn't discover it through a search.

You are watching: Rt-n66r vs rt-n66u

I'm looking to upgrade my netjob-related in my residence, which is LONG overdue. I've currently settled on the Motorola SB6121 SURFboard for my modem, and the Asus RT-N66U for my rexternal. I've noticed Best Buy has the RT-N66R in stock and I can pick it up this afternoon, instead of waiting till Monday for the RT-N66U to come from Amazon/NewEgg/wherever before.

I've also check out digital that the firmware variation numbers are different, however the firmware itself is pretty a lot the same. Is this true? In the very same vein, deserve to you flash Merlin or a various firmware to both of them?

Is tright here a distinction between the 2, besides the design number (R, I'm guessing, is just the Retail model)? Should I hold out and also wait for the U in the mail, or indulge and also gain myself running today?

tl;dr: What is the difference?

Thanks in advance!

IIRC the U and R recurrent the digital retailer and also physical keep versions. Correct me if I'm wrong however there is no difference in between the two.

That's pretty much all I might uncover out digital, as well. Just looking for verification. I've viewed wright here people compared the Firmwares, and they are (besides the variation number) similar.
